Joseph Moreau, Vice Chancellor of Technology at Foothill-De Anza Community College District will discuss the challenges of embracing digital transformation in your organization at the upcoming 2019 CIO Leadership Forum in San Francisco, September 10, 2019.
In Moreau’s session, attendees can expect to learn how to navigate the hype around digital transformation. They will learn the difference between “digitization”, “digitalization”, and “digital transformation”. Additionally, they will also gain an understanding of the impacts of digital transformation initiatives and how to address them.
When asked about the top challenges he and his peers encounter, Moreau felt that “too often we assume digital transformation of the enterprise is strictly an IT challenge, when in reality it involves many different stakeholders throughout the organization.”
In Moreau’s opinion, Amazon Web Services is having a truly significant impact on his industry. He expressed that the ease by which organizations can use cloud resources at very affordable rates is truly transforming the way his college district can do what they do.
Moreau offered up some great advice for recruiting and maintaining top talent and for leaders looking to build high performance teams.
“Talent acquisition and retention is always a major concern for my organization and industry. However, with the ability for contributors to be effective in a remote work situation, our pool of prospective talent is growing.”
When asked about new digital transformation initiatives that Foothill-De Anza Community College District is working on, Moreau shared that they are looking into a couple of things that are truly transformative. Including, looking at ways to use Blockchain to improve a variety of processes around record keeping, fee payment, and financial aid. They are also exploring how AI can help them find trends in massive data sets that would otherwise be difficult or impossible for humans to find.
